“The biblical idea of the body of Christ makes no sense at all without the valued participation of the people.” (Sue Mallory)

The body of Christ consists of people and is meant to reach a person; that means that there has to be a contribution of PEOPLE.

1 Corinthians 12:14-20 “For the body does not consist of one member but of many. If the foot should say, ‘Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,’ that would not make it any less a part of the body. And if the ear should say, ‘Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,’ that would not make it any less a part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell? But as it is, God has arranged the members in the body, each of them, as he chose. If all were a single member, where would the body be? As it were, there are many parts, yet one body.”

Part of our responsibilities as believers is SERVING!  GOD HAS GIVEN EACH MEMBER A PART/ROLE TO PLAY!

WHY SERVING IS IMPORTANT

  1. CONNECTIONS happen when the right people are in the right place (relationships are formed).

  1. It’s a way of making a connection with the ministry and with the people (you begin to see the ministry on a personal level, and your language changes – not THIS Church but MY Church).

  1. It allows us to be an EXTENSION of Christ to the people.

Everything we do in ministry we should do because we love God and we love His people. Serving God encompasses serving people. God intends for us to serve and has designed each one of us with what author Rick Warren calls a SHAPE. He made us with this combination to help us in our serving.

Spiritual Gifts

A spiritual gift is given to each one of us as a means of helping the entire church”. 1 Corinthians 12:7 (God planned it that way so we would need each other.)

Heart

“As a face is reflected in water, so the heart reflects the person.” Proverbs 27:19 (Your heart represents the source of all your motivations – what you love to do and what you care about most.)

Ability

God has given each one of us the ability to do certain things well.” Romans 12:6a (You have dozens, probably hundreds, of untapped, unrecognized and unused abilities that are lying dormant inside of you!)

Personality

“God works through different people in different ways, but it is the same God who achieves his purpose through them all.”  1 Corinthians 12:6 (God made you to be you! You can learn through the examples of others, but you must filter what you learn through your own shape.)

Experience

"And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” Romans 8:28 (You have been shaped by your experiences in life, most of which were beyond your control. God allowed them for his purpose of molding you.) -Rick Warren: The Purpose Driven Life

Spiritual Gifts Profile

Every Christian is gifted with special motivation to bless them and benefit ministry. These motivational gifts are the specific ways we think, feel, and act from a spiritual perspective. You can identify your spiritual gifts through this profile. (Please avoid using 3-Sometimes True, as much as possible.)

DISC Profile

The DISC Personality Test is an assessment tool that is used to determine different behavior types. DISC is an acronym that stands for the four main personality profiles described in the DISC model: (D)ominance, (I)nfluence, (S)teadiness and (C)onscientiousness. (Please avoid using 3-Sometimes, as much as possible.)
