Emotional safety is important for our mental health and critically important for a marriage. Knowing that you are loved, supported and understood creates a favorable environment where people can flourish and become their best selves. When people are at their best, they tend to treat others well.
This year the focus of our marriage ministry is creating and sustaining a safe marriage. With mental and emotional health issues becoming more at the forefront of our national conversation, we wanted to spend some time examining, from a biblical and psychological perspective, what it looks like to be in a safe relationship, how to recognize unsafe patterns, and how to build safety into your relationship.
